Tavi: Promoting the rights of persons living with psychosocial disabilities

The QualityRights initiative has been a great opportunity for Tavi, a young Ghanaian man living with bi-polar disorder, to learn more about and intensify his advocacy for the rights of persons living with psychosocial disabilities. Tavi shared, “Since I attended the training on QualityRight my professional life has changed…anything I am going to do with my service user, I first think of the service user’s right so that peace prevails between me and my service user at all times.”
QualityRights has also had an impact on his family and community after having shared his personal experiences with them. His family now lives in a new kind of harmony without worrying how they will be perceived by the community as a result of Tavi’s mental health. He explained, “QualityRights has really brought a total happiness into my family and community at large. Nobody stigmatizes me any longer because I even spend time with some community members while educating them on the rights of persons living with psychosocial disabilities.”
