The challenge.

Mental health is a fundamental component of individual and collective wellbeing, yet it remains widely misunderstood and stigmatised. In Switzerland, mental health conditions are among the leading causes of disability. This is not simply a consequence of the conditions themselves: delayed care, social exclusion and the reluctance to speak openly about mental health problems all play a part in turning manageable distress into lasting challenges.

Even in a well-resourced health system, universal accessibility is not always the case. Financial, cultural and systemic barriers can leave people in the most vulnerable situations outside the reach of support. Strengthening awareness, promoting prevention and creating nurturing environments are essential to building a more inclusive and resilient mental health ecosystem, ensuring good mental health becomes a reality for everyone.

Driving change together.

Fondation d’Harcourt partners with Minds, a Geneva-based non-profit organization dedicated to promoting mental health in the region through education, capacity building, digital innovation and public awareness initiatives.

The partnership’s primary objective is to reduce stigma around mental health through a large-scale anti-stigma campaign that amplifies the voices of people with lived experience and encourages understanding, empathy and help-seeking. It also strengthens training programs for professionals in health, education and social services, equipping them with evidence-based tools to better respond to psychological distress and nurture the well-being of everyone in their care.

To sustain these efforts, we also support Minds as it strengthens its governance, fundraising, and monitoring and evaluation systems, and places people with lived experience at the heart of its decision-making. Together, we are strengthening its capacity to drive lasting change in mental health across the region.
